Tariff Regulations and Conditions of Carriage

1. Applicable tariffs

1.1 The following tariff regulations and conditions of carriage shall exclusively apply to the carriage of passengers on the trains of the City Air Terminal Betriebsgesellschaft m.b.H. (”CAT GmbH “) on the route Wien Mitte – railway station Vienna Airport (“City Airport Train“) and for the carriage of passengers in a CAT-CAB from and to the City Air Terminal in Wien Mitte.

1.2 The Austrian Eisenbahn Personen und Reisegepäcktarif [railway, passenger and luggage tariff] (ÖPT) as amended shall secondarily apply to the carriage of passengers on the City Airport Train.


2. Tickets

2.1 Only tickets of CAT GmbH are valid for travel on the City Airport Train and in the CAT-CAB.

2.2 Tickets from other operators, transport companies or transport associations shall not be accepted.

2.3 Tickets for the carriage of passengers on the City Airport Train can be purchased from the specially designated ticket vending machines, through the Internet (www.cityairporttrain.com), from selected travel agencies and points of sales at railway stations in Austria or directly on the train.

2.4 Tickets for the carriage of passengers in the CAT-CAB can be purchased through the Internet (www.cityairporttrain.com).

3. Fares

3.1 City Airport Train:
The following table shows the prices for the different sales channels:

* The reduced CAT single ticket is only valid in combination with the ÖAMTC club card, ARBÖ club card, Wien card, ÖBB VORTEILScard and Gdg member card, GPA-DJP member card, Austrian press card and Vienna Experts Club member card.
** Children aged 0-14 (upon completion of 14th year) are carried free of charge.


Wheelchair users are carried free of charge.
All fares are including VAT.

3.2 CAT CAB

Bookings for pick-up/destination addresses outside of Vienna are not possible.
All fares are including VAT.

4. Advance sale

Tickets for the City Airport Train can be purchased in advance at the earliest 8 months before the 1st day of validity. The validity period of the ticket depends on the type of ticket and the chosen sales channel; it is noted on the ticket.

5. Validity period of tickets

5.1 CAT single tickets purchased from a ticket vending machine are valid for 24 hours, CAT return tickets for 30 days and CAT 10 journey tickets for 12 months; the validity period for all types of tickets starts at the time of their issue.

5.2 CAT tickets purchased on the Internet are valid on the day stated on the ticket print out (for return tickets, both for the outward and return journey) as well as one day before and one day after the stated day.

5.3 CAT tickets purchased on the train are valid only on the day of issue and only for the journey, during which they are purchased.

5.4 CAT-CAB tickets can be purchased in advance at the earliest 8 months before the 1st day of validity.

5.5 CAT-CAB tickets purchased on the Internet are valid on the day stated on the ticket print out (for return tickets, both for the outward and return journey) as well as one day before and one day after the stated day.


6. Changes of bookings, cancellations and fare refunds

6.1 Bookings for the City Airport Train cannot be changed.

6.2 Bookings for the City Airport Train cannot be cancelled.

6.3 Bookings for CAT-CABs can be changed until 9 pm on the day before the journey by adhering to the following procedure: send an email with your change request to the following email address: dispatch@airportservices-vie.com

6.4 Ordered CAT CAB carriage services cannot be cancelled.

6.5 A subsequent refund of the fare is not possible in all cases (City Airport Train and CAT-CAB).

7. City Check In

The purchase of a ticket for the City Airport Train or for a CAT CAB entitles the respective ticket holder to check in his/her luggage at the City Check In Wien Mitte. Subject to any provisions of the respective airline to the contrary, City Check In is possible at the earliest 24 hours and at the latest 75 minutes before departure. However, check in on the evening before departure is only possible starting from 6 pm.

8. Carriage service

8.1 Smoking is not permitted on all City Airport Trains and CAT-CABs.

8.2 To provide highest quality and comfort to all passengers takes top priority for CAT GmbH. Therefore, the train attendants on the City Airport Train and the CAT-CAB drivers are authorised to refuse or discontinue the carriage of a passenger at any time, if there is a risk of damage to the City Airport Train or the CAT-CAB or the risk of injury to a person or a risk concerning transport safety for any reason whatsoever. In such cases, CAT GmbH shall be wholly exonerated from its liability.

8.3 CAT GmbH performs carriage services with the CAT-CAB in accordance with the respective order given and shall use its best efforts and all available resources to arrive at the agreed pick-up address at the time agreed.

8.4 Passengers booking a CAT-CAB are responsible for the correctness, completeness and clearness of the pick-up address and for determining the time of pick-up allowing them to comply with the check-in deadlines at the City Air Terminal Wien Mitte or at Vienna Airport in case check in is not possible for the respective airline, so that they are not late for their departure from Vienna Airport.

8.5 Passengers booking a CAT-CAB are responsible to show up at the agreed pick-up address at the pick-up time agreed.

8.6 If a passenger is late or unable to show up, the CAT-CAB driver is obliged to wait at the agreed pick-up address for 10 minutes. The driver is not obliged to call the agreed pick-up address or to make any active effort to be noted by the passenger. If the passenger's delay exceeds 10 minutes, the CAT-CAB driver is not obliged to continue waiting for the passenger.

8.7 The CAT-CAB driver is obliged to comply with traffic regulations at all times. He is not obliged to violate any traffic regulations (e.g. the maximum admissible speed), particularly not in case of any unexpected delays (e.g. due to traffic jams or accidents). He shall not comply with any such instructions from the passenger.

9. Carriage of luggage on the City Airport Train

9.1 Luggage

9.1.1 Any pieces of luggage checked in as flight luggage at the City Air Terminal in Wien Mitte are not deemed to be luggage as defined by the ÖPT. The provisions of the ÖPT shall not apply to such pieces of luggage.

9.1.2 After its check in , the luggage passes into the custody of that airline which is responsible for the passenger’s transport from Vienna Airport to his/her next destination. CAT GmbH carries out the luggage transport between Wien Mitte and Vienna Airport on behalf and at the risk of the respective airline.

9.1.3 CAT GmbH excludes any liability to the passenger for luggage check in at the City Air Terminal. Any such claims must be exclusively asserted against the respective transporting airline.

9.2 Hand luggage

9.2.1 The general terms and conditions according to ÖPT apply to the carriage of hand luggage.

9.2.2 The transport of bicycles or other larger sports equipment (e.g. skis, surfboards and the like) as well as of bulky, oversized objects on the trains is allowed, if the capacities available on the train permit it. In cases of doubt, the train attendant shall decide whether the transport of a piece of luggage is allowed or not. The train attendant is authorised to refuse the carriage of such sports equipments and bulky, oversized objects, if the capacities available on the train do not permit it.

9.2.3 The passenger is responsible to ensure that the transport of such objects poses no risk to the train’s or to other passengers’ safety and neither a risk of injury to other passengers nor a risk of damage to objects (such as e.g. other hand luggage) or equipment of the train.

9.2.4 The transport of bicycles, larger sports equipment (e.g. skis, surfboards and the like) as well as bulky, oversized objects is made free of charge.

9.3 Carriage of animals
The general terms and conditions according to ÖPT apply to the carriage of animals. Dogs must wear muzzles and be kept on a lead.

10. Carriage of luggage in CAT-CABs

10.1 A maximum of 2 pieces of luggage per passenger are transported in the CAT-CAB. If more than 1 passenger is transported with the CAT-CAB, all passengers must ensure that it is possible to transport all luggage in the CAT-CAT (normal passenger car). The CAT-CAB driver is authorised to refuse transport, if there are too many pieces of luggage or to order an additional CAT-CAB. In this case, CAT shall not be liable for any consequential damages incurred by the passenger (e.g. if the passenger misses his/her plane).

10.2 The transport of bicycles or other larger sports equipment (e.g. skis, surfboards and the like) as well as bulky, oversized or excessively heavy objects is not allowed. In cases of doubt, the CAT-CAB driver shall decide whether the transport of a piece of luggage is allowed or not.

10.3 Animals are transported, if they do not pose any risk of damage to the CAT-CAB or risk of injury to a person or a risk concerning transport safety. Dogs are only transported, if they wear muzzles and are kept on a lead.

10.4 CAT shall be liable to the passenger for any damages caused by wilful misconduct or gross negligence (e.g. to the transported luggage). The liability of CAT for damages caused by minor negligence, for consequential damages, for purely financial damages and for lost profit shall be excluded.

10.5 CAT shall not accept any liability for any damages incurred by the passenger due to his/her not having ordered the CAT-CAB on time or having given an incorrect, incomplete or not clear address or not having shown up at the agreed pick-up time for any reason whatsoever.

11. Lost objects and objects left behind

11.1 Contrary to the terms and conditions of the ÖPT, the lost and found office at Vienna Airport is responsible for the acceptance of lost objects or objects left behind on the City Airport Train and on railway facilities of CAT GmbH and for respective reports of findings (phone: +43(0)1/7007/29360, mail: fundbuero@viennaairport.com). Found objects are handled by the lost & found office at Vienna Airport in accordance with the provisions of the Austrian Civil Code (ABGB) as amended or with the bylaws of the lost & found office at Vienna Airport.

11.2 Found objects are handled in accordance with the provisions of the Austrian Civil Code (ABGB) as amended.

12. Fees for cleaning and maintenance of systems, resources or other equipment

12.1 In case of soiling of systems, resources and equipment of CAT GmbH, CAT GmbH shall be entitled to collect a cleaning fee of € 60 from the responsible party.

12.2 In case of damage or theft of systems, resources and equipment of CAT GmbH, the responsible party shall be billed with the respective costs incurred.

13. Final provisions

13.1 If individual provisions of these Tariff Regulations and Conditions of Carriage should be or become ineffective as a whole or in part, this shall not affect the effectiveness of the remaining provisions. The provisions that have become ineffective shall be replaced with provisions that come as close as possible to the intended economic purpose of the ineffective provisions. The same shall apply to any regulatory gaps.

13.2 These Tariff Regulations and Conditions of Carriage shall be subject to Austrian law. To the extent permissible by law, any disputes arising from or in connection with these Tariff Regulations and Conditions of Carriage, including the validity of the Tariff Regulations and Conditions of Carriage per se, shall be exclusively settled by the competent court in Vienna.

City Check In closed
Due to technical reasons the City Check In is closed on Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th of February. We kindly ask our passengers to use the check in facilities at the airport.
